No kiddin'... mine has some extremely fine hairlines , or die imperfections or whatever that caused them, and PCGS still graded it 70.

I got somewhat flamed here before for pointing out errors can and do exist on perfect "70" coins. As TA says, there is no difference between a 69 and a 70 because....... a 70 is a theoretical grade, existing only to define the top limit of the Sheldon scale. A lot of people are doing well selling "perfect" coins though, so congrats to them.

My problem with watching the e-bay prices is that they are not indicative of the real price. Most of the coins are Buy it now's so the MSN cash back rebate (as well as other current ebay cash back programs) are baked into the price.

And that is fine if you are an e-bay seller with a good seller rating. But for those of us who have low to no e-bay seller history, the BIN prices we would list at would have to be much less then what the power sellers get away with.

And don't you have to give some of the sales proceeds to e-bay and paypal? What would the net sales proceeds be on a BIN coin (say a MS 70 first strike like many of us have here) be anyways? Say the BIN price was $2,250 and the coin was sold for that price?

A good rule of thumb is about 10% of the gross sale, goes to ebay and paypal fees. Then you have to add shipping and insurance on top of that.

If the guy sells a coin for $2250, ebay and paypal will get about $225, then he'll spend another $25 to ship and insure it.

He's probably trying to clear $2000, after expenses.

The final value fee of a BIN at $2,250 would be 12% OR $270. If they are a powerseller in good standing they would get back 40% of that making the total fee $162. They would also pay the Paypal fee of .30 + 3% ($68). The paypal fee would only be $5 if they paid by e-check.

In short, the seller would end up paying a fee of between $230 and $338 based on their Ebay status.

Really good post - thanks :ok:for taking the time and the OTHERS who posted above too. No wonder they call it FEE-BAY.

Still it's cheaper than paying the overhead on a brick & cement type shop - but "so many" (hungry sellers?) are doing both. Frankly, I'd choose FEE-BAY and take off :4_8_4v: every other month and not sell a thing. :thumb.aspx:
